EMS System Certification

The EMS Recertification and Transition audit under the new ČCSN EN ISO 14001: 2015 norm was successfully conducted from 13 to 16 November 2017. It was conducted by the accredited certification company, DNV-GL.

The recertification audit is a complete (full-scope) audit of norms, meaning that the auditors evaluate the fulfillment of norm requirements in connection with praxis. The new system certificate, which is valid for three years, is subsequently issued after receiving positive audit results, i.e., the new certificate for EMS systems, valid until 2020, will be issued in 2017. Then the complete recertification audit of the EMS system will be conducted again when it expires.

The transition audit is an audit focusing on the transition under the revised ČSN EN ISO 14001:2015 norm. Until now, the valid version has been ČSN EN ISO 14001:2005. By issuing the revised norm for EMS systems, as well as for the quality system (IATF 16 949 and ISO 9001), the layout of norms was brought together according to PDCA. The unification of the norms makes their implementation and integration in companies easier.

It is necessary to explain the term “supervisory audit”. This is an audit that follows the recertification audit in one and two-year intervals. This audit is not carried out by the auditors in the full scope of the norm; it is conducted using samples. The next EMS audit will be held in November 2018. It will be the first ISS supervisory audit.

The auditors positively evaluated:

  • Regular checks of safety equipment functionality.
  • Management of the recorded information connected to emergency preparedness.
  • Training for emergency situations.
  • Visualization of emergency preparedness.
  • High level of environmental-requirement visualization in individual workplaces.
  • Paying a high degree of attention to the product life cycle (use of reusable packaging, recycling of the dissolvent, recycling of gold, subsequent usage of the plastic packaging – plastic inflow etc.).
  • Pursuit of alternative resources.
  • Conducting the energy audit.
  • Investment activities for energy and resource savings (heat recovery, thermal insulation, windows, usage of the rainwater, LED lighting, etc.)
  • Smooth distribution of emissions as a result of semi-automats/automats installation (bld. 17).
  • The system of waste depots rules in individual locations and workplaces and model waste manipulation.

The auditors were pleased with workplace tidiness, highly qualified and knowledgeable staff and with the transparent and forthcoming approach. The use of modern technologies was positively evaluated as well as the production process and investments in future technologies.
