4th Annual “Day with Your Hospital”

The main themes for this year were HEART and SIGHT. Visitors were shown how to administer first aid and heart massage, and how to treat various eye injuries. Health professionals from the Optical Department opened their workplace to everyone interested in preventive examinations (measurement of intraocular pressure). The incomers could also see a slit lamp in action or, thanks to the information panels, acquaint themselves with eye defects and optical illusions.

The United Organization of Blind and Visually Impaired (SONS), Vsetin branch, prepared an exposition of special equipment. According to Dagmar Filgasova from SONS Vsetin, the biggest attractions for visitors were special spectacles that simulate common eye defects. Both, children and adults had the opportunity to try writing in Braille, the sound shooting range, sound jigsaw puzzles or other table games for the visually impaired. The main topic presented by participating police officers was how to see and how to be seen effectively. They highlighted the correct use of reflective safety features and introduced the campaign: Can you see correctly?, which focuses on the detection of hidden eye defects.

The Day with Your Hospital also dealt with other human senses. The visitors could find out how hearing is examined and how to eat healthily. Various preventive examinations, such as lung, blood pressure or sugar level examination were introduced to anyone interested, who could also see the rehabilitation facilities of the occupational therapist.

The Day with Your Hospital traditionally originates in cooperation with Vsetin Health School ((MG, SZS a VOSZ Vsetin), Czech Red Cross Vsetin, Ambulance of the Zlin District, the Liska civic organization and others.

We appreciate the effort and hard work of all participating institutions!
