Children from the Orphanage and Elementary School in Liptál put on a “White Christmas” performance, or “what was and what will be”, with the social workers and friends of the school on 14 December 2016.
The event has taken place for the last few years in the Liptál Town Hall. Amusing fairy tale scenes and stories from life in the orphanage were followed by musical and dance performances introducing all the residents and their educators. During the program, the children put their wishes under the Christmas tree to be taken by Santa Claus at the end of the event. In a fairy tale, a wish does not come true when said aloud, however, since a lot of good people and benefactors were sitting in attendance, the children of the orphanage can most surely look forward to a bountiful Christmas this year. ISS employee contribute with presents as well. For the third year in a row we donated toys, sports equipment, vouchers and other things that will put a smiles on the children’s faces.
The event’s program introduces more than just the orphanage’s hundred-year history, it also introduced a new theme; a new project called Vulnerable Children and Youngsters in the Zlín Region concerns changes in the management of homes and shelters. Stage I was completed in 2016. It focused on mapping the situation of imperiled children and families in the Zlín region and on processing a transformation plan in three selected facilities, the Children’s Center Zlín, the Baby and Children’s Center Valašské Meziříčí and the Elementary School in Liptál. The project is now in Stage II, which will continue until April 2017. It involves the establishment of appropriate material and technical conditions for effectively providing services, creating detailed descriptions of services in the individual facilities and developing the necessary worker skills in the care system for vulnerable children. For the orphanage in Liptál, this transformation has reduced the number of children by half. At present, 24 children stay there and the project will bring about important changes in the future as well, however, at the moment they are not clear yet.
