Zlín’s regional round of the Traffic-safety Competition for Young Cyclists took place on the urban street simulation course in Zlín on May 31, 2016. The event was organized by BESIP, the main coordinating body in the field of road safety in the Czech Republic. INDET SAFETY SYSTEMS a.s. (ISS) was one of the sponsors.
The regional round is attended by the winning elementary school teams from the district rounds, who compete in two categories according to year of birth. Each team consists of four students (two girls and two boys) competing in four disciplines: traffic rules on the road – a test and practical exam, cycling skills, principles of first aid, and handling of maps. Mistakes are evaluated and the team receiving the fewest penalty points is named the winner. This year, first place went to the 2nd Napajedla Elementary School in both categories.
Two teams from the district of Vsetín managed to fight their way to the regional round. In the older children category, students from the Poličná Elementary School and Kindergarten placed last in fourth place, and students from the Křížná Elementary School in Valašské Meziříčí placed third in the younger category. None of the contestants left empty handed thanks to the organizers, the region and the sponsors.
ISS and the Traffic-safety Competition for Young Cyclists are connected through the shared aspiration to enhance road safety. ISS produces systems for safety belt pretentions and initiators for airbags. The systems produced and developed by ISS do not protect only drivers, but pedestrians as well. The company wishes to further expand its activities as it feels a duty to help protect cyclists as well. It wholeheartedly supports students who are interested in road safety and in improving essential transportation skills, which they can apply while riding a bike and later driving a car.
