Users of Auxilium o.p.s. services visited the Lešná ZOO on Thursday, 29 October 2015. They were transported by the Nový Hrozenkov Charity’s special bus. The rental costs were covered by INDET SAFETY SYSTEMS a.s. (ISS).
As an element of integrating the people they serve into normal life within society, Auxilium organizes different events, one of which was a visit to the Lešná ZOO. The trip was organized for service users with severe disabilities from six years of age - 15 people attended it in total, seven of whom are confined to wheelchairs. Each participant was accompanied by a personal assistant.
It was Auxilium’s first event for which an entirely new low-floor bus was used with special modifications to transport up to six wheelchair-bound individuals. The bus was acquired by the Nový Hrozenkov Charity in September 2015 after exhaustive efforts and is available for rent to other local social service providers. For some participants, this was their first bus ride and an unforgettable experience. Until this time, outings had been carried out using automobiles belonging to the organization or by public transport, which are both time consuming and physically demanding, not to mention risky due the lack of handles and other special safety features.
“We started the tour in Africa and gradually went through all the continents and concluded it in Asia. A part of the excursion was the exhibition of different substances – for example elephant skin or the skull of a tiger. Therefore, despite the fact that we could not touch living animals, we could at least hold things in our hands. The trip went well, we returned pleasantly tired and satisfied! Our heart-felt gratitude goes out to INDET SAFETY SYSTEMS a.s., who funded the outing and also to the Lešná ZOO for the program they prepared. Thank You”, was written on the Auxilium Facebook page by the Director Mrs. Božena Mikulíková.
