Pink Ribbon Campaign Attracts Attention

A pink ribbon campaign took place at INDET SAFETY SYSTEMS a.s. (ISS) from 12 – 16 October 2015. Cancer is a serious problem these days, therefore, the company decided to participate in the international Breast Health Day to spread information regarding oncological diseases, particularly breast cancer following the example of our parent company, Nippon Kayaku Co. Ltd.  In cooperation with the regional organization, ONKO-DUHA, the campaign took place on 15 October in the towns of Vsetín and Valašské Meziříčí and the surrounding villages.

The campaign was organized by the Corporate Planning Department, where promotion materials were prepared with information about preventive examinations, self-examinations and other issues connected to oncological diseases based on the expertise of members from  the ONKO-DUHA Vsetín organization and their colleagues from parent organizations. Magnetic buttons were given away together with leaflets encouraging prevention as well.

Information about the campaign was mainly distributed throughout the ISS company in presentations during big production meetings conducted by the HR Department, managers of the Production Department and members of the CP Department. Other ISS media included informative emails, notice boards and personal visits to individual departments. During one week, the members of the CP Department addressed almost all ISS employees and, for those who could not be present, information was available at the HR Department in the days following as well. This was a new and unusual event in the company and employees were in most cases pleasantly surprised that the company dedicated time to this issue. Their initial smiles at the presentation were replaced with a more serious tone – everybody is well aware of the serious nature of this subject and the fact that cancer can affect anyone at anytime.

The campaign took place for the general public on 15 October. Approximately forty members of ONKO-DUHA Vsetín went into the streets to address the public and also to remind everyone of the dangers of oncological diseases and prevention. Although some people may have resented the intrusion, the majority of those approached welcomed the learning experience.
