On October 4th 2014, an international tournament in traditional karate, Valachia Cup 2014, took place in the Lapač sporting hall in Vsetín (Czech Republic). In total, there were 257 contestants from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine. The tournament was organized by the Vsetín Police Sports Club, Alcedo- SVČ Vsetín and financed with the help of the contributions from sponsors. The company ISS was the main partner in the event.
Mr. Hiroyuki Taniguchi (SP Division Senior Manager, ISS) officially opened the Valachia Cup with a speech in which he expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to the contestants for spreading Japanese culture on the European continent. Despite the fact that all age groups were represented and the level of competition was high, competitors from Vsetín were able to win 31 medals.
The tournament was attended by 800 people including the general public and parents.
Our karate martial artists are entering other important tournaments in October including the World Championship in traditional karate and the World Cup for children. Both will take place in Geneva (Switzerland).
