The 1st Regional Car Crash Rescue Competition for volunteer firefighters from the Zlín region and the district round of the 4th Annual Professional Firefighting Unit Competition for the district department of Vsetín took place on 14 May 2015.
The contest took place in the morning hours in the Masarykova Street parking lot in Valašské Meziříčí. With the continuous increase of vehicles on the roads, rescue training is becoming more and more important and necessary in terms of qualifications, preparedness and refreshing skills in firefighting units, not only among professional firefighters, but also among volunteers.
The Vsetín region’s “Rescue” event was attended by ten competing teams this year. INDET SAFETY SYSTEMS a.s. (ISS) enlisted their support as one of the regional contest’s benefactors for the first time this year. “The firefighting unit is the second element in the life-saving sequence where traffic accidents are concerned, the first of which is the flawless operation of pyrotechnic passive safety features, which our company manufactures. It is, therefore, logical that INDET SAFETY SYSTEMS a.s. has an interest in the subsequent activities of the rescue units after an accident; the fast and effective rescue of the car’s occupants is critical. Supporting a contest where one can improve these skills is in the best of interest of our company and of all motorists” said Radim Spisar, the Administration Division Senior Manager.
The main task of the four-member teams was to perform a safe and effective rescue of an injured person from a crashed vehicle using firefighting equipment, some means of fire protection and special equipment used by the firefighting units while employing tactical and technical procedures corresponding to the current knowledge and regulations. One aspect of the rescue was the administration of first aid and transfer to a simulated ambulance (transfer to the referee, who acts as a medic). The winner of the district round of professional firefighting units ÚO Vsetín proceeds to the next regional round of units from the HZS Zlín and Olomouc regions to be held in Přerov. The winner of the regional round of volunteer firefighters continues on to the Czech championship Třinec.
“B” Unit from the Valašské Meziříčí fire station was victorious in the professional group category. The August JSDHO Czech Championship to be held in Třinec will be attended by the volunteer firefighting unit from Rožnov pod Radhoštěm.
