Morning preparations for the Day with Your Hospital were launched in rainy weather that persisted throughout the whole event. The event was the second of its kind and took place at the Vsetin Hospital a.s. complex on 19 June 2015 with the support of ISS.
Visitors had the opportunity to walk around selected departments of the hospital and see workplaces such as the audiological chamber for special hearing tests, the EEG workplace, the tuberculosis and respiratory diseases department, and the delivery room, as well as undergo various tests themselves. These tests included spirometry tests, which detect the amount of body fat (BMI), hand hygiene checks with a UV lamp, blood pressure measurements and blood sugar tests (blood glucose on an empty stomach). Preventative measures are important and can detect dangerous diseases, which is something most people seem to be aware of, as evidenced by the high level of interest in these examinations and findings.
There was a special program prepared that went beyond the services usually provided by the hospital. One of the most interesting was the “Gut Tour” project, which featured a giant scale model of the colon, through which visitors could walk and observe how healthy and diseased parts of the intestine look. They could also practice correct sitting posture under the supervision of physiotherapists.
There was a Nordic walking demonstration – walking with poles, tours of an ambulance and a fire truck, lectures by the police about road safety, and bone marrow donation.
The event was not only interesting to adults, but also to children, who visited the hospital as a school field trip.
